How to calculate brick consumption
Brick consumption is calculated from the wall area and the number of bricks per m², which depends on the brick format and wall thickness. For common formats, pieces per m² are given:
number of bricks = wall area (m²) × bricks per m²
Example: a 5 × 2.6 m wall = 13 m². At 50 bricks per m² (a common brick for a 30 cm thick wall) that's 650 bricks. We recommend adding 5% for broken and cut pieces.
Mortar consumption
Mortar consumption depends on the brick format and joint thickness. Roughly, 25–40 kg of mortar per m² of masonry is used for solid bricks, less for ground blocks glued with a thin-layer mortar. The calculator uses the value for the selected format.
